Pedestal for a Shoe:  Refugee Series    18" x 24" x 24"

In Pedestal, a child (my mother) is represented by the shoe she lost when fleeing Stalinists during WWII, and which I recovered from her house in Latvia 70 years later....more here.  I wrote some free verse describing the refugee-to-immigrant story, and decaled it onto the  roof, along with newspaper clippings of the current refugee crisis.
